Capital Training (SW) Ltd is a leading Training Provider in the Construction industry. The company offers courses both On Site and in Capital Trainings purpose built Cardiff Training Centre. All courses taught are practical, hands on and taught by experienced professionals.

Capital Trainings Health and Safety Courses are;
CSCS -1 day

If you need a CSCS card to work on site, you will need to pass a health and safety test. Capital Training (SW) Ltd is currently preparing operatives for the all important test.

The Capital Training (SW) Ltd Health & Safety test sets the standard for the industry. Taken by over 500,000 people every year, it ensures that everyone working in construction has a minimum level of health and safety awareness.

The test is under continuous review to keep it in line with current legislation and ensure it meets industry requirements. The test involves answering 35 questions in 40 minutes. The questions are multiple-choice, answered via a touch-screen computer. Help will be available to take you through a practice session before the test, if you wish.


The course will include:

  • All test arrangements made by us!
  • Advice and information on obtaining the full card

NEBOSH General Certificate

10 Days + 1 for written exam

Who should attend?

Managers and Supervisors whose responsibility is health and safety issues on a day to day basis

Course Content

Unit 1 - Management of Health & Safety

The syllabus covers:

  • Health & safety foundations
  • Policy
  • Organising for Health & safety
  • Promoting a positive health & safety culture
  • Risk assessment
  • Principles of control
  • Monitoring, review and audit
  • Incident and accident investigation, recording and reporting

Unit 2 - Controlling workplace hazards

  • Movement of people - hazards and control
  • Manual and mechanical handling hazards and control
  • Work equipment hazards and control
  • Electrical hazards and control
  • Fire hazards and control
  • Chemical and biological health, hazards and control
  • Physical and psychological health, hazards and control
  • Construction activities, hazards and control

The examinations consist of two 2 hour papers, one taken in the morning and one in the afternoon. The practical test can be taken at the delegate’s workplace or the training venue and involves writing an assessment of the hazards noted by the student.

Successful candidates will be awarded a National General Certificate on completion of the examinations and practical assessment.

IOSH Managing Safely
4 days

Who should attend?

Managing Safely is a course for managers and supervisors and is relevant to any sector and any organisation. It covers the main health and safety issues and will enable managers to effectively handle health and safety within their workplace.

Course Content

  • Assessing risks
  • Controlling risks
  • Understanding your responsibilities
  • Identifying hazards
  • Investigating accidents and incidents
  • Measuring performance
  • Protecting the environment

The course culminates in a 45 minute examination, along with a practical work based project which is done at a later date.
For those students not in work, a suitable venue can be supplied by West End Training.

Students who are successful are awarded an IOSH Certificate in Managing Safely which is valid for 3 years.

IOSH Working Safely
1 day

Who should attend?

Everyone at any level, in any sector, needing a grounding in the essentials of health and safety. The course highlights why health and safety is important, and how individuals can help protect themselves and their colleagues through a greater understanding of safety issues.
Course content:

  • Introducing working safely
  • Defining hazard and risk
  • Identifying common hazards
  • Improving safety performance
  • Protecting our environment

Assessments are built into the course so there is no need for follow -on tests on separate days.

Successful candidates who complete the written and practical assessments have a choice of either an IOSH Working Safely certificate, or an IOSH Passport card.
